{"id":13753,"date":"2023-08-29T10:33:53","date_gmt":"2023-08-29T02:33:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.marathonkuching.com\/site\/?p=13753"},"modified":"2024-05-09T10:53:05","modified_gmt":"2024-05-09T02:53:05","slug":"octobers-kuching-marathon-wyes-10000-runners","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.marathonkuching.com\/site\/octobers-kuching-marathon-wyes-10000-runners\/","title":{"rendered":"October\u2019s Kuching Marathon Eyes 10,000 Runners"},"content":{"rendered":"[vc_row pix_particles_check=&#8221;&#8221;][vc_column][vc_column_text]<span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>KUCHING: <\/strong>The 8th edition of the Kuching Marathon, scheduled for Oct 1, is poised to attract a significant surge in participation, with an estimated 10,000 runners expected.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah revealed that the current number of registrations stands at an impressive 8,600.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cThe target is 10,000, but looking at the (current) registrations, I believe it will exceed the target as the event is still one month away.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cWe\u2019re aware that participants, especially locals, tend to register at the last minute since the event always sees a high turnout,\u201d said the Minister for Youth, Sport and Entrepreneur Development on Monday (Aug 28).<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">Speaking at a media briefing here during the launch of the marathon, he outlined the event\u2019s structure featuring six categories, starting from 1am to 8am.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">The event will commence with the flag-off for the 42km open category (for both genders) and the 42km veteran category (for both genders).<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">Following this, the flag-off for the 21km open category and veteran category is scheduled at 4am.
